We’ve had discussions about bad words before, but usually they come from movies or books or kids at school, not from the President-elect. I knew right away when the women’s march in Seattle was first being organized the the three of us would be going. Letting them wear pussyhats at the march took a lot more consideration. In the end, I thought it was important that they know the meaning behind the pussyhats, which was my main hang up. So we had an age appropriate discussion, and now they know the old fashioned and modern definition of p*ssy, and that this is the kind of language the incoming president uses to talk about women.
Many many thanks to my friend Sara for knitting us hats, and my husband Patrick for the photo.
